We all know that we fangenders have a tendency to stock up on some books even when we still have a insurmountable pile to go (come on guys, I know I'm not the only one guilty of this crime). And so this is the main purpose of this post, to showcase our new books that we all have willingly - or unwillingly - bought. So without any more further ado, this is my Hoarding and Hauling!

Fire with Fire
by Jenny Han, Siobhan Vivian

Lillia, Kat, and Mary had the perfect plan. Work together in secret to take down the people who wronged them. But things didn’t exactly go the way they’d hoped at the Homecoming Dance.

Not even close.

For now, it looks like they got away with it. All they have to do is move on and pick up the pieces, forget there ever was a pact. But it’s not easy, not when Reeve is still a total jerk and Rennie’s meaner than she ever was before.

And then there’s sweet little Mary…she knows there’s something seriously wrong with her. If she can’t control her anger, she’s sure that someone will get hurt even worse than Reeve was. Mary understands now that it’s not just that Reeve bullied her—it’s that he made her love him.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, burn for a burn. A broken heart for a broken heart. The girls are up to the task. They’ll make Reeve fall in love with Lillia and then they will crush him. It’s the only way he’ll learn.

It seems once a fire is lit, the only thing you can do is let it burn...

The Summer I Turned Pretty
by Jenny Han

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

It's Not Summer Without You

by Jenny Han

Can summer be truly summer without Cousins Beach?

It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.

But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started--at Cousins Beach.

It's Not Summer Without You
by Jenny Han

It's been two years since Conrad told Belly to go with Jeremiah. She and Jeremiah have been inseparable ever since, even attending the same college-- only, their relationship hasn't exactly been the happily ever after Belly had hoped it would be. And when Jeremiah makes the worst mistake a boy can make, Belly is forced to question what she thought was true love. Does she really have a future with Jeremiah? Has she ever gotten over Conrad? It's time for Belly to decide, once and for all, who has her heart forever.

Of Triton
by Anna Banks

Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half-Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

 Reboot
by Amy Tintera

Five years ago, Wren Connolly was shot three times in the chest. After 178 minutes she came back as a Reboot: stronger, faster, able to heal, and less emotional. The longer Reboots are dead, the less human they are when they return. Wren 178 is the deadliest Reboot in the Republic of Texas. Now seventeen years old, she serves as a soldier for HARC (Human Advancement and Repopulation Corporation).

Wren’s favorite part of the job is training new Reboots, but her latest newbie is the worst she’s ever seen. As a 22, Callum Reyes is practically human. His reflexes are too slow, he’s always asking questions, and his ever-present smile is freaking her out. Yet there’s something about him she can’t ignore. When Callum refuses to follow an order, Wren is given one last chance to get him in line—or she’ll have to eliminate him. Wren has never disobeyed before and knows if she does, she’ll be eliminated, too. But she has also never felt as alive as she does around Callum.

The perfect soldier is done taking orders

The Fault in Our Stars
By John Green

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love

And that sums up all my Hoarding and Hauling post for the month of May. What are your new books this month? Are they in hardback, trade paperback, or e book? Comment them below.

Interrupting Interviews: Elizabeth Richards (Black City Trilogy)

I feel very honored and very fortunate to have been able to interview Elizabeth Richards - the genius behind the books which you see above, Black City, Phoenix, and her latest installment Wings.

About the Author:
Elizabeth Richards is an award-winning journalist, who spent her early career reviewing videogames before making the bold (or crazy) move into travel writing, despite suffering from terrible travel sickness.

In her spare time, she ran a successful lifestyle website aimed at teenage girls, where she got to interview many of her favourite bands, go to gigs and basically blag loads of free swag all in the name of ‘research’.

Elizabeth lives in Buckinghamshire, England, with her husband. Black City is her debut novel.

More about the author:

Were you not a writer, what do you think you'd become?

I love to paint and draw, so my other ‘dream’ profession would be illustrating children’s books. But realistically, before becoming an author I worked as a magazine editor and website editor, and I enjoyed the work, so I’d probably still do that!

How do you fight writer's block?

I step away from my computer and go and do something mundane like washing the dishes. For whatever reason, it frees up my creative mind and within minutes the problem is solved. I also read, as sometimes you can get so entrenched in your own writing that you can’t see the wood for the trees, but reading other books gives your mind a rest, plus you can analyse how that author tackled a particular problem, which might give you inspiration as to how to fix the issue in your own work.

Was there a book that made you say, "That's it, I am taking this pen, and write my own story!"?

There’s been a few over the years, actually! The Ghosts of Sleath by James Herbert, The Poet by Michael Connelly, Body Farm by Patricia Cornwell, The Liar by Stephen Fry, and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. But really, it was Harry Potter that properly kick-started my writing career, as prior to that I’d been noodling away on adult thrillers and horror stories, but they just weren’t working for me. Then I read that book and I was smitten and I realized I needed to take my writing in a new direction. I started reading more MG books, which led to me to reading YA novels and then that was it!

What's the best thing about writing?

Getting to spend all day in a fantasy world.

If you are a box of cereal, what would you say and why?

Rainbow Starships (actually, that sounds like an indie band), because despite writing about dark, dystopian worlds I’m actually a colourful, friendly person and I’m a sci-fi geek!

More about the series:

How did the idea for Black City start?

It all began with Ash. I was watching a movie one evening and his character just popped into my head. I became fixated with the idea of this drug-dealing, supernatural boy who gets a heartbeat when he meets his true love, and as soon as the movie finished, I grabbed my laptop and started writing!

Which among your amazing characters could you relate to the most, and why?

Probably Day! Although she’s well-meaning and has a good heart, she’s also quite blunt and can be a little insecure and petty at times, plus she’s a book geek like me!

Who is your dream cast for Ash and Natalie?

I think Ezra Miller would be perfect casting for Ash, as he has that edgy, bad-boy thing going for him, plus he’s beautiful in a strange way. For Natalie, I think Aimee Teegarden from Friday Night Lights would be good – she looks just like her!

Which character surprised you the most while writing the series?

Oooh, that’s a good question. Elijah surprised me a lot; I didn’t think I’d fall in love with him quite as much as I did, or feel so sorry for him. But as the narrative progressed and I got to know him better, I realized there was more to this seemingly vain and shallow boy than first meets the eye.

Will the fans be happy about the epilogue of the last book?

I hope so! I think it wraps up the story threads nicely and hopefully they’ll find it a satisfying ending to the series.

Read the book:
In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-old Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.

Roaring Reviews: Fire with Fire, by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian

Title: Fire with Fire
Author: Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian
Publication Date: September 13, 2013 by Simon and Schuster
Format: Trade Paperback

Plot Synopsis:

The Actual Review:

This is the second in the Burn for Burn trilogy by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian. My review of Burn for Burn could be found here.
The book starts off two months after the events of Burn for Burn, and hell does the plot gets waaay thicker! Just when the girls think they got the better of Rennie and Reeve, the two of them come back meaner than ever.

It took time for me to finish this book; I felt that most of the chapters written here were just fillers lengthening the word count book. Nonetheless I still liked it. We get more intimate with all the characters, just when you think you’re prepared to abhor them for the rest of your life Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian pull this trick that makes you suddenly want to curl up with the characters, repeating the words “It’s alright, I understand you now” like a mantra.

We get to finally see a more vulnerable side to Kat in this book, about her repressed grief about her mom, why she really wants to get to Oberlin. Another character that I have grown to like in this was most definitely Reeve. We start to hate him at the first few parts of the books, being a total dick to everyone, but as the book progresses, we get to see remorse in his actions how he thinks he deserves what he’s going through right now. We could also see how he’s willing to change because of a girl he really likes, and how much he’s going to sacrifice just to keep her out of harm’s way. And Mary! Mary scared the living hell out of me in this book! We finally figured out what makes her snap, what makes her tick. We managed to unveil some of the mysterious fog that surrounds her, making us understand why she’s really bent into this revenge for this guy.

Overall, Fire with Fire is a good read, filled with deep, well written characters whom you, as a reader, can’t help but empathize with.

Nonsensical Nonsense: The Gods of Olympus Book Tag

The Gods of Olympus
Book Tag!!!

I saw this book tag over in one of a booktuber's videos, and since I don't really do videos, I decided to make this a blog post.

#1 Zeus: Name your favorite fictional leader. Good or bad?

Sassy, witty, and Keeper of the Runners, give me a one good reason not to like Minho. Minho is basically the person who gives us all comic relief in the series.

Plot Synopsis:
"If you ain't scared, you ain't human."

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He's surrounded by strangers--boys whose memories are also gone.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It's the only way out--and no one's ever made it through alive.

Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.

#2 Hera: Who are your favorite fictional parents?

My favorite fictional parents comes from Outpost, which is the second book of Enclave.

The Oaks family is one of the most amazing family I have met in YA literature! They're are the BEST, I sometimes wish that they were my own parents too. Is there this magical that I can put myself up to adoption for fictional parents?

Plot Synopsis:
Deuce’s whole world has changed.

Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn't fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.

To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.

#3 Demeter: What fictional food would you like to try?

Hands down, it's DAUNTLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! Why? Because it's cake, because it's chocolate. And BECAUSE IT'S DAUNTLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE!

Plot Synopsis:
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, Tris also learns that her secret might help her save the ones she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

#3 Poseidon: Name a book where water is central, either in setting or plot.

This is the only mermaid book I have, so this is kinda here by default. *shrugs*

Plot Synopsis:
Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen—literally, ouch!—both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma's gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom...

Told from both Emma and Galen's points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humor, and waves of romance.

#4 Dionysus: Which character would you most like to have a party with?

All of us who have read this series knows to an extent that The High Warlock of Brooklyn is a party animal. We also knows fully that Magnus's parties are legen-wait for it-dary. That being said, who wouldn't want this sex god of partying in any of their revelry.

Plot Synopsis:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

#5 Apollo: Name a great debut book or a first book in a series you really enjoyed.

This is one of the best books I have read. asdfgfghjk If you haven't read Legend yet, then let me be the first one to tell you GO TO THE NEAREST BOOKSTORE. Now!!!!

Plot Synopsis:
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

#6 Artemis: Who is your favorite female heroine?

If you have read this book and did not like Karou, then I don't want to talk to you.

Kidding!

But seriously if you do not love then you NEED to give her another chance! She is one of the best kick ass characters of YA Litterature.

Plot Synopsis:
Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages--not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.

When one of the strangers--beautiful, haunted Akiva--fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

#8 Hermes: If you could travel to any fictional setting, real or fantasy, where would you go?

To Tartarus with the fact that you might be dead before your 15th birthday. To Tartarus with the fact that you might get struck with lightning because you managed to upset some unknown god. Because seriously, who wouldn't want to get claimed by their godly parent, and have these super mega awesome demigodish powers.

Plot Synopsis:
Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus' master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus' stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

#9 Hephaestus: If you could have any fictional tool made, what would you want?

At first I would've said a real wand, but who would want a wand when you could have a real live Smarteye! I mean you could basically go into this Hogwarts realm and get your own hologram wand. Heck, you can even go to Camp Half Blood and and get your very own sword. It's that awesome! You get to have the best of all fandoms!

Plot Synopsis:

There he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him... if Harry can survive the encounter.

#11 Ares: What is your favorite fictional battle

Imagine the fight scenes of Avatar Last Airbender, the suspense thrill of The Hunger  Games, and the amazing magic and spells of Harry Potter. We've got Minerva Mcgonagall animating the stone statues, we've got, Sybil Trelawney making tennis balls out of her crystal balls, we have Pomona Sprout throwing pots of Devil's Snare. IT'S ALL FREAKING PERFECT AND EPIC!!!!!!

The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

#14 If you could be a god or goddess of anything who would you be, and what do you think would fit your personality.

I would probably the god lethargicness, just lounging on my bad reading all day long, doing nothing. Or, or I could be the god of sarcasm and profanity or, or the supreme deity of all things bullcrap!
